Love is in the air...

I'm so proud of myself. Can you tell?? Three posts about what I made this week!! I needed a little piece of art to hang on a small (8 inch width) wall and I had the perfect solution. A small 6 inch canvas, some leftover wall paint, and a few bright colors to make the word LOVE pop out! I LOVE this!! Literally. I love it. It's perfect for the space it's in and a good reminder to be more loving...no matter how messy the kids' rooms are or how naughty they are. :)
My inspiration for this is found here...Check out that headboard!! I'm ready to revamp my whole room now!! Love her website, too!!

Another crafty moment...

I'm going cheap this year...making do with what I have. Erin (Hi, Erin!!) at Skoots and Cuddles had a post about art being beautiful and she picked several that I loved. I especially loved the white on white heart piece. (Ok, the bee one, too...and the bird one...OK. I liked them all.) Once I checked out the price tags I realized my theory of making do and being cheap wasn't going to last if I gave in to the shopping temptations. So, I made my own. I had the paper, and the frame, I just needed a heart punch, which I found for $7 at JoAnn's. (I will totally use that again! I will be making more of these!) My heart art project isn't perfect and it's not totally lined up properly, but I still like it!! Thanks, Erin!! The inspiration for this can be found at Sarah & Bendrix, an Etsy shop!

Complete.

All over blogland I've seen big, fluffy, white wreaths made out of coffee filters. The Nester, a daily read for me, gave a tutorial on how to make them and it looked super easy. So, with a $1 wreath form from the dollar store and a couple packs of coffee filters, I was armed and ready! This project took A VERY LONG time to complete...and the husband was NOT thrilled with it taking up counter space. After several days, lots of glue sticks and burnt fingertips...IT IS COMPLETE! I love it, love it, love it!! :)

Speaking of Legos...

I found this picture today on my lunch.
How fitting.
I'm wondering how long it will take for the boys to try out something like this...without the beer, of course. :)

Lego Filled Life

I wish someone would have told me that when you give birth to a boy, you also give birth to an eternal mess. The eternal mess never goes away. It grows...as the boy grows. Want to know what's the worse part about the eternal mess?? Inside the eternal mess lives the world's worst toy! LEGOS!!! All of their tiny little pieces end up in strange places, including my bed and on toilet paper rolls, but worst of all, they are so well loved (and expensive) I can't throw them away. So the battle continues... The clean up lives on...the eternal mess is apparently going to be around for a while.

Thou Shall Not Covet...

...but I do.
Sometimes it is hard to just window shop, especially with the endless amounts of goodies on Etsy. I'm good though...I didn't spend a cent! :)

He's NOT mine.

He's his father's son. Not mine.

Especially when he does entertainingly weird things like this.

Do you feel sorry for me now?!

Farm Kids + City Kids

It is rare when it happens, but I love when these 5 kids get to hang out together...because that means I get to hang out with my good friend, Ursula and her hubby, C.R., gets to do kid duty!! Except when Oklahoma State University is playing some big bowl game!! :)
Seriously, we WILL get to Oklahoma this summer. Fishing, horses, Eskimo Joes and too many kids. We can't wait!!

Thanks for coming over...

It's never long enough!!

Spirit of Christmas

I'm not sure if it is tradition at this point or just pure procrastination on my part. Matthew writes his letter to Santa on Christmas Eve. He pours the milk, sets up his cookie display and waits...
He waited this year for several hours in bed...camera on hand...waiting to tape the elusive Santa slipping down the chimney. Watching the excitement on your children's faces makes the stress of the holidays so worth it. This year he even asked for his cousin Jake, who is currently serving in Afghanistan, to come home safe from the war. What a sweet soul! Santa visited...almost three hours after the boys laid down, they were both finally asleep!! He certainly made Christmas look spectacular!

Another Christmas Post...

After 10 years, even the dog remembers she gets a special toy in her stocking. She begged at the fireplace for several minutes until we realized she was just waiting.
Tears? On Christmas?? Seriously?!!? Why, you ask?!
Because he got Jessie, from Toy Story...the toy he begged for. He sobbed. In his room. Pouting for several minutes. Honestly. He even had the audacity to stash her deep in the laundry basket to remove her from his toy stash. The kid isn't right!! :)

Wouldn't that be fun...

I've been thinking a lot about putting the boys in the same room and using the extra room as a toy room. Seeing pictures like this make me want to take the leap! Can you imagine how excited little boys would be to have rooms like this?!

I love how the beds are just built in, but I'm pretty sure my boys would NOT appreciate the color choice here.

I really like this one. I am in LOVE with the storage underneath the beds.

So, Dad...do you think you'd like to tackle one of these as a pet project??

Make Do.

This is my motto.
This is what I am making a conscious effort to do. This year.
Make do.
Do with what I have.
I need to grocery shop smarter.
I need to get back on track with coupons.
Life isn't about stuff.
Life is about living.
Even though it would be kinda fun...I don't want my pantry to look like this.
We are going to MAKE DO with what we already have!!
