Today: March 18, 2010

They made me smile today! They listened today! They had fun today! They were a joy to be around today! The loved each other today! Today was a good day!

Ethan was 'dressed' by Matthew...of course I had to take a picture of the warrior Frisbee player! I particularly loved his sprouts of hair shooting out of the top of his helmet. Once Matthew saw me taking a picture of Ethan, he needed a picture of his old gal, Guinness. She loves Matthew!!

It's done...

...and I love it! It makes the bathroom look so much more updated! Actually, it's just nice to have doors on the vanity again! I can hide away all my things from the men in the house.

The Written Word

Matthew was playing 'office' at my parent's house and left an ADORABLE message on their desk. He wrote, "I hafta go ona vacashin. See ya latr, BYE. Love, Matthew" Well, I knew I couldn't reproduce the originality of the first one, but we tried. So...this is what Matthew made for me. It is now proudly displayed in our 'beach' bathroom. I ♥ that he truly thought 'haftu' was a real word and didn't know it was "have to." Too darn cute!

Paint.

Boy oh boy...I have some crafty kids...they love doing crafts! Matthew was making some watercolor portraits and Ethan made a watercolor caterpillar. It seemed fitting since Ethan's favorite story these days is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. I have a egg carton caterpillar from Matthew, too. He was just about this age when we made them and now I have a pair. :)

Today we put it all together and BOY was he a proud artist! I love his 'thumbs up' in the picture...just goes to show he really thought he did a great job!

Happy St. Patrick's Day - 2010

My little leprechauns posed for pictures to humor me...in fact they even posed with the garden gnome. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!

Takin' Advantage of Mother Nature

Matthew and Ethan were SO excited to play baseball outside with Bryan after work. Matthew was showing off his MAD skills! Ethan, on the other hand, took a more spectator-ish approach and used the neighbor's sled to watch them play.
Matthew looks so tall and skinny here!

(I hope he's not dreaming of more snow!)
P.S. High 60s in March is an amazing gift for those living in IL...and I think the past 2 days these two boys have taken full advantage of Mother Nature's mistake. Just so ya know...more snow is being predicted for the end of the week. UGH!!

Pre-Saint Patrick's Day Dinner

Bryan has lessons tomorrow, so we couldn't do the "Irish Dinner." Instead, we did it tonight, complete with green milk, Guinness, corned beef, cabbage, and red potatoes. Can you believe Ethan even ate his dinner?! SHOCKING!!
Happy early St. Patrick's Day from the O'Ward Family!

Flubber

Have you ever made Flubber? This used to be Matthew's favorite thing to play with in daycare and at home. He'd been begging to make some and late last night I made it for the boys as a surprise. Let's just say, the initial reaction was NOT what I was hoping for. Ethan didn't want to touch it and Matthew chose to play outside instead. Oh well...they enjoyed it for a few minutes! That's all that matters, I guess.

Can you see how he realized it wasn't so bad after all?! He actually said, "Hey...this is kinda cool." DUH!

Hey, Mom!!

Aren't ya proud??!! I 'accessorized' all on my own and I don't think it turned out half bad. Plus...an even better reason to be proud...I DIDN'T BUY A THING!! :)
